Teenager killed in Co Kildare car accident

A teenager is struck by a car on the Celbridge to Leixlip road yesterday afternoon, and is later pronounced dead.

A 16-YEAR-OLD GIRL has been killed after being struck by a car in Co Kildare.

The girl was struck at an area just off the M4 close to an Applegreen service station west of Leixlip, shortly before 5pm.

The girl was taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

The driver of the car involved in the accident, a male in his 20s, was not injured in the incident.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to the accident to contact the Celbridge station at (01) 6012370 or any Garda station.
