Teenager arrested after fellow teen stabbed in Castlebar

A man in his late teens was stabbed in Market Square, in the centre of the Co Mayo town, this afternoon.

A TEENAGER has been arrested after the stabbing of another teenager in Castlebar this afternoon.

The incident occurred at Market Square, in the centre of the town, shortly after 1:30pm this afternoon.

The victim has been taken to Mayo General Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The teenager – who is male and in his late teens – being questioned was arrested a short time after the incident, and is being held at Castlebar Garda Station.

He is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, as amended.
