Teens arrested over late-night Limerick stabbing

Two teenagers have been taken into Garda custody following a stabbing in Thomondgate, Limerick last night.

GARDAÍ HAVE arrested two teenagers in connection with a stabbing in Limerick last night.

The victim, a man in his 30s, suffered a number of stab wounds during the attack, which occurred on the side of the street at Altamira Terrace in the northside Thomondgate area of the city at about 10pm.

The man was rushed to Mid-Western Regional Hospital, the Limerick Leader reports, and remains in a serious condition.

The area, in the meantime, has been sealed off pending a technical examination.

The two arrested teens remain in custody at Mayorstone Garda Station, RTÉ adds, and Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact the station at (061) 456980.

In a separate incident, a man was stabbed in the back as part of a suspected domestic dispute on Tuesday night at Cronan Lawn in Shannon. Gardaí are investigating.

A 43-year-old woman arrested was released without charge. The Limerick Leader believes both parties to be from Eastern Europe.
