1. #WATERFORD: An 18-year-old man has died fleeing the scene of an attack on a senior garda’s house last night in Dungarvan. It is believed two people were arrested in the incident and the Garda Síochána Ombudsman’s Commission is investigating.

2.#LOCAL ISSUE: The woman featuring in a video in which the Taoiseach suggested that she wasn’t from Galway has spoken out. Dette McLoughlin told TheJournal.ie that Enda Kenny was “trying to undermine” her.

3.#LOVE/HATE: An actor in the hit TV show Love/Hate is recovering in hospital after being shot. Leroy Harris was shot in the early hours of this morning in Dublin’s north inner city. 

4.#USC: The Finance Minister moved to play down fears that 360,000 people would face a hike in their Universal Social Charge next year. Michael Noonan hit out at Fianna Fáil on the issue, saying that they had started a time bomb, then wanted to reset the timing mechanism.

5.#CHILDLINE: Childrens’ charity Childline revealed that it had been contacted for help 664,000 times last year. 13.5 per cent of phone contacts were related to abuse, Childline said.
