1. #MAHON: Bertie Ahern has formally quit Fianna Fáil – leaving the party after 40 years of membership, and having led it for 14. The party this morning said both Ahern and councillor John Hannon, both of whom were up for expulsion from the party later this week, had resigned their membership.

2. #LIMERICK: The minister for justice Alan Shatter has said he fully understands the decision of Limerick publican Steve Collins and his family to leave the country. The Collinses emigrated yesterday to escape a life of intimidation from Limerick gangs who targeted the family after Collins’ son Roy testified against a gang member in court, and was shot dead in retaliation.

3. #PROPERTY: The value of the average Irish home continued to fall in February, according to new figures from the CSO, with the average property losing 2.2 per cent of its value. Apartments in Dublin are now worth only 38 per cent of their peak value in 2007.

4. #JOBSWATCH: Supermarket chain SuperValu has announced plans to invest €20 million in the expansion of its network, including the creation of 200 jobs in the coming twelve months. The expansion will mean the supermarkets will employ in excess of 12,000 people.

5. #MUAMBA: Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba, who remains critically ill in hospital, is making slow but steady progress in hospital – and was well enough to watch some of his teammates on Match of the Day at the weekend. It turns out, however, that he mustn’t have been too enthusiastic – having woken up on Sunday to see the early MOTD repeat, Muamba fell asleep watching his own team beat Blackburn 2-1.
