The 5 at 5 5 minutes, 5 stories, 5 o’clock…

EVERY WEEKDAY EVENING, TheJournal.ie brings you five things you need to know before you head out the door…

1. #EUROZONE: Unemployment in the eurozone has reached the highest level since the single currency was introduced – with just under 11 per cent of the eurozone’s labour force now out of work. Spain’s rate, at 23.6 per cent, is by far the highest.

2. #PRISONS: A new report on conditions at Arbour Hill prison has found that overcrowding, and the treatment of older prisoners, are both still problems at the Dublin prison. Separately, though, children’s minister Frances Fitzgerald has confirmed funding to ensure that juvenile offenders will no longer be housed in the same prisons as adults.

3. #ARCHDIOCESE: The Archdiocese of Armagh has begun an investigation into how a parish priest inadvertently showed pornographic images to a group of parents at a primary school. The priest was preparing a PowerPoint for the parents of First Communion candidates when the images showed on his screen.

4. #PAKISTAN: Osama bin Laden’s three widows, and two daughters, have each been sentenced to 45 days in prison for illegally entering Pakistan. The women will be released in two weeks, however, having already been in prison for a month.

5. #WEATHER: As you’ll have noticed by now, it hasn’t been as warm today as it’s been over the weekend and last week. Well, it looks like it’s time to unpack the scarves again: Met Éireann says we’ll be facing frosty mornings and wintry showers later this week.
