The 5 at 5 5 minutes, 5 stories, 5 o’clock…

EVERY WEEKDAY EVENING, TheJournal.ie brings you the five stories you need to know before you head out the door.

1. #STRIKE: Commuters will be affected by an all-out strike at Bus Éireann from Sunday. Workers today voted for the industrial action as they rejected Labour Court’s recommendations on proposed changes to pay and terms of employment.

2. #GARDAÍ: The Garda Ombudsman believes gardaí delayed its investigation into possible collusion between members of the force and Kieran Boylan, a convicted drug dealer who had further charges against him dropped in 2008, by failing to cooperate satisfactorily. The Ombudsman, however, found that there should be no prosecutions in relation to the case.

3. #FOUND: Ariel Castro has emerged as the lone suspect in the case of the three vanished-but-rescued women in Cleveland, Ohio. The 52-year-old appeared in court today, charged with raping and kidnapping Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight.

4. #PRIORY HALL: The Supreme Court has postponed a decision on whether Dublin City Council must continue to pay the accommodation costs of the displaced Priory Hall residents until next October. Spokesman for the residents Graham Usher said the families were surprised by today’s outcome, adding that their “sleepless nights” and “limbo” will continue.

5. #TURNING THOSE BLUES RED: Former Everton boss David Moyes has some big boots to fill. The Scot got the job as the new Manchester United manager after sealing the most-important recommendation – from Sir Alex Ferguson himself.
