1. #PHOENIX PARK: Justice Minister Alan Shatter has said MCD, the promoters of Saturday’s Swedish House Mafia concert at the Phoenix Park, should apologise for the level of disorder at the venue where a number of people were stabbed and there were dozens of arrests. One man also died as a result of a suspected overdose.

2. #REILLY: James Reilly will address the Dáil tonight on the issue of his name appearing on a debt defaulters list in the Stubbs Gazette. The Health Minister has been the subject of much scrutiny since it emerged yesterday that he had failed to comply with a High Court order that he and four co-investors complete the €1.9 million purchase of a nursing home in Tipperary. Reilly will make a statement five minutes before the Dáil adjourns.

3. #SPAIN: A raft of austerity measures including a rise in VAT, cuts to local authority budgets and a reduction in unemployment benefit after six months have been announced as part of a €65 billion in austerity measures by the Spanish government today. Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said the measures were “not pleasant, but they are necessary” as the country prepares to received a multi-billion bank bailout.

4. #BABIES: A third of births in Ireland last year were outside of marriage according to a new batch of statistics released by the Central Statistics Office today. The figures show that the average age of mothers was just under 32. The stats also reveal that Jack and Emily are Ireland’s most popular baby names.

5. #TAXI: A new iPhone app has been released to make sure that taxi customers never get taken “the long way round” again. TaxiFair has been released to address problems its creator, Kevin Fagan, identified such as drivers taking customers on longer routes or operating ‘dodgy meters’. He said that the app will show how much should be charged for a trip and the route that should be taken.
