5. #HOUSE PRICES: Most people think now is a good time to buy a house, according to an Irish Independent/Millward Browne Lansdowne poll published today. Four out of five people questioned as part of the survey said they believed now was a good time to consider buying – although a similar number said they expected prices to fall further.

6. #INCEST: Legislation being brought forward by former Fine Gael TD Denis Naughten is seeking to end a 17-year legal loophole which sees men liable for life imprisonment if convicted of incest, while women may face shorter sentences.

The new Bill proposes to amend the Punishment of Incest Act 1908, a law inherited by the Irish state after independence, so that both men and women can be imprisoned for life.

7. #HIT AND RUN: Gardaí in Limerick city are appealing for information about an alleged hit-and-run incident in the city, which left a woman in her late twenties seriously injured. The incident occurred on O’Connell Street at approximately 2.40am on Friday morning, the Limerick Leader reports.

8. #CHEN GUANGCHENG: Blind Chinese legal activist Chen Guangcheng has been permitted to leave hospital in Beijing to travel to the United States - following the US and China agreeing on a deal earlier this month to end to a delicate diplomatic crisis.

Chen, one of China’s best-known dissidents, has spent nearly all of the past seven years in prison or under house arrest.

9. #INVISIBLE ART: Is art still art if you can’t see it? That’s one of the questions being posed to visitors at one of London’s leading galleries this month – with works including a movie shot with no film, invisible ink drawings, and a plinth once stood on by Andy Warhol going on display.

Hayward Gallery’s director Ralph Rugoff said the gallery would stage the UK’s first exhibition of art to explore invisibility and emptiness, with the showcasing of works by about 50 artists, the Guardian reports.
