1. #FEES: Several private schools in Ireland are taking parents to court over their failure to pay fees for their children, according to the Sunday Times. The paper found that St Columba’s College, the most expensive private school in the country, has taken three cases against parents since October.

2.#EUROZONE: The Socialist Party has called for a referendum on the landmark EU deal agreed on Friday, saying that it will involve a significant transfer of powers from the Dáil to Europe.

3. #MICHAEL D: Michael D Higgins will undergo knee surgery at a Galway hospital next week. The president broke his kneecap in a fall during a humanitarian mission in Colombia.

4. #CLIMATE CHANGE: Delegates at the UN climate change conference in Durban, South Africa have reached a late agreement this morning. The marathon session ended with a climate change deal for all countries which will take effect by 2020.

5. #FIRE: A 55-year-old woman died in a house fire in Ballina, Co. Mayo during the night. The alarm was raised by a family member who arrived at the house just before 5 o’clock this morning.

6. #RUSSIA: Tens of thousands of protesters gathered in Russia yesterday in what was the largest ever protest against the rule of leader Vladimir Putin. The demonstrations, attended by between 30,000 and 50,000 people, were the biggest in the country since the end of the Soviet era.

7. #EL CLASICO: Barcelona came from behind to beat Real Madrid 3-1 in the Clasico last night. Read our analysis of the match between two of the best sides in the world today here.

8. # HIGGS BOSON: Tuesday could be a pretty exciting day. Scientists at CERN are due to present the latest results on the search for the Higgs boson, the elusive ‘God particle’, which is seen as playing a fundamental role in the workings of the universe, reports the Guardian.

9. #X FACTOR: Tonight’s X Factor final sees girl band Little Mix pitted against Marcus Collins in the battle to win a recording contract. Amelia Lily was voted out of the show last night.
