The DART pulls in to Connolly Station, 1998. Leon Farrell/Photocall Ireland

Poll: When was the last time you were on the DART?

This train is for Bray, Bré.

ON 23 JULY 1984, an icon of Dublin public transport was born.

That’s right, today marks 40 years since the launch of the DART, which initially ran between Howth and Bray before being extended out to Malahide and Greystones.

Despite criticism about the cost of construction, the green trains have become a staple along Dublin’s coastline, with almost 670 million passenger journeys made in the past 40 years.

So today we’re asking: When was the last time you were on the DART?

Poll Results:

Longer than that (3763)
In the last year (2119)
This month (1459)
I've never got the DART (1430)
This week (713)
Today (562)
