VIDEO: Could The Stag be the best Irish comedy in years?

This film stars Amy Huberman and Hugh O’Conor, and centres on a posh man’s stag do.

STAG NIGHTS CAN be hilarious for many different reasons, not all of them printable on this website.

But this Irish comedy, The Stag, takes a refreshingly different look at this pre-marital rite of passage.

Starring Amy Huberman as Ruth, whose husband-to-be is dragged to a stag weekend that gets hijacked by his future brother-in-law, ‘The Machine’, it could be Ireland’s answer to the Hangover.

One thing it certainly isn’t is anything like the derided American film with a similar title, which starred Donald Faison from Scrubs.

The Stag was directed by John Butler, and stars Brian Gleeson, Hugh O’Conor, Michael Legge, Andrew Bennett and Peter McDonald.

The film is due for release in early 2014, says IFTA, and we’re wondering if it could be the best Irish comedy in years…
