Third arrest made in McMahon murder investigation

Gardaí in Louth have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the murder of Seamus McMahon last year.

GARDAÍ IN LOUTH have arrested a man in connection with the murder of Seamus McMahon in Dundalk last year.

The 30-year-old suspect was arrested in Drogheda this morning and is currently being detained at Drogheda Garda Station.

This is the third arrest made by police investigating the murder, which occured on the evening of March 21, 2010.

McMahon, who was 41 at the time, was shot at a house in Saltown. He was brought to hospital but later died from his injuries.

Two men escaped from the scene in what Gardaí said was a white Toyota Corolla hatchback.

The man arrested this morning is being held under the provisions of section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007.

A second man was arrested and questioned in relation to the murder on August 19. A woman was arrested but subsequently released on June 7.
