Three arrested in connection with Leicester house fire

Three 19-year-olds are being questioned in relation to a fatal house fire which killed a mother and her three children in England.

POLICE IN ENGLAND have arrested three people in relation to a street attack, which is believed could be linked to a house fire which killed three people in Leicester.

Shehnila Taufiq died along with her 19-year-old daughter and sons, aged 17 and 15, named by their local mosque as Zainab, Jamal and Bilal. The victims were the wife and children of Muhammad Taufiq Al Sattar, a Dublin-based neurosurgeon.

The family were inside their terraced home in the Spinney Hills area of Leicester when the blaze broke out in the early hours of Friday morning.

On Friday evening, a 19-year-old man was arrested in London in connection with the fire. Two women, both aged 19, were also arrested.

All three were arrested over the killing of the man in his 20s, named in local reports as father-of-one Antoin Akpom.

Police have not ruled out a link between the two events, and say they are investigating whether the fire was started intentionally as a revenge attack.
