Woman and two children killed in crash involving articulated truck on N17 in Co Mayo

The collision happened earlier this afternoon on the N17 at Castlegar near Claremorris.

A WOMAN AND TWO children have died in a collision between a car and an articulated truck in Co Mayo.

The collision happened shortly before 2pm this afternoon on the N17 at Castlegar, near Claremorris.

Gardaí and other emergency services attended the scene. 

The driver, a woman, and children, two girls, were fatally injured. Gardaí say no other injuries have been reported.

The road is closed in both directions and is expected to remain closed for a number of hours, with local diversions in place.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators will conduct an examination of the scene.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.
