THREE PEOPLE WILL BE charged in connection with the death of Robert Hamill, 25, in Co Armagh 13 years ago. Hamill, a Catholic, was beaten to death by a loyalist mob, the BBC reports.
He suffered serious head injuries in the attack on 27 April, 1997, and died 11 days later.
A public inquiry was held in 2009 into allegations the police failed to intervene in the attack on Hamill in Portadown.
The inquiry received evidence from over 100 witnesses.
The prosecution service reviewed evidence in the case and concluded that:
The test for prosecution is met in respect of two persons for an offence of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, and one person for an offence of doing an act with intent to pervert the course of justice.
