Two men to appear in court in connection with Tipperary organised crime

The men were arrested when gardaí searched a house in Cahir.

TWO MEN ARE due to appear before a sitting of Cashel District Court today in connection with an organised crime investigation in Tipperary.

The men were arrested by gardaí from the Special Detective Unit during an operation on Friday.

The operation was carried out as part of an ongoing investigation aimed at combating the importation of explosives, firearms and ammunition into this jurisdiction.

The men were arrested when gardaí searched a house in Cahir.

The two (aged 50 and 33) are currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939 at Cahir Garda Station. They could be held for up to 72 hours, but will appear before court today.

The operation was led by members of the Special Detective Unit assisted by the Emergency Response Unit and gardaí from the South Eastern Region.

The investigation is ongoing.
