A 32-MEMBER syndicate from Co Tipperary collected a cheque worth €17 million at the National Lottery headquarters in Dublin today.

Employees from Stakelums Hardware Store in Thurles won the jackpot in the EuroMillions draw held on 5 June.

Gerard Sammon, spokesperson for the syndicate, said members didn’t believe they had won at first.

“We were stunned, but we have had over a week to let the good news sink in.

We are all absolutely delighted, it will make a huge difference to all of our lives.

“It is great that this massive jackpot is being shared amongst 32 people,” Sammon said.

National Lottery CEO Dermot Griffin said the last time there was “this level of excitement” at Lotto HQ was when a Dublin Bus syndicate won over €22 million in 2016.
