Like many other companies, we are experiencing higher costs for numerous ingredients. We carry these costs for as long as possible, but to ensure Toblerone remains on-shelf, is affordable and retains the triangular shape, we have had to reduce the weight of just two of our bars in the UK, from the wider range of available Toblerone products.
And that it’s all down to weight:
The 400g is now 360g and the 170g is now 150g.

But what about Ireland?
Whoops!
We couldn't find this Tweet
We have contacted Toblerone here to officially confirm, but Tesco Ireland has verified to DailyEdge.ie that they are indeed stocking the new-fangled bars across Ireland – in Milk, Dark, White and Fruit & Nut varieties.
I was very surprised when I bought this bar in Tesco recently, I don’t often buy Toblerone but on this occasion I fancied a change. I’d heard the rumours that Mondelez were reducing the size, but I never thought they’d do it in such a ridiculous way.

Reducing size is completely dishonest. We know about it here but most are hoping that the reduction in size will sneak passed people. It’s much harder to sneak past a price increase
Anyway, Mondalez really have no clue how to run a company, they’re completely destroying everything with cheaper ingredients resulting in smaller and more expensive products.
There’s better for less and people are starting to realise it
@Life in no motion:
and have a read of this on their website.
never read such corporate crap. http://www.mondelezinternational.com/about-us/our-dream-belief-and-values
Mondalez (Kraft) bought the oldest confectionary firm in the world, Cadbury, and promised not to shut its Somerdale plant in England. Days later it did just that and moved the factory to cheap labour production in Poland.
As a US firm they’re all about profit. No wonder they’re hugely in favour of TTIP.
Total tossers.
First Cadburys, cocoa content of their ‘chocolate ‘ reduced, products size reduced, Halal approved ingredients only, prices all increased!! Now Toblerone heading in the same direction.
Just stop buying the products that have been hugely increased in price and reduced in quality and size.
Lidl and Aldi stock high quality chocolate products at very fair prices.
@John Campbell: I know they do and I agree…but why oh why do these companies have to ruin their products that are consumers favourites – Jaffa cakes – -creme eggs – pink. snack wafers – cadburys soya instead of a glass and a half of milk……I mean its Ireland we have no shortage of fkkking milk – the list seems to go on and on – I dont get home to Ireland next until xmas and god knows what else the idiots running these companies will have ruined – milk tray and roses already down hill – biscuits from Jacobs downhill – and they could with a bit of smarts do a zillion other things in how they run their business instead of ricking around with the actual products – as ya say paying right into the hands of altrnatves at Aldi and lidl —but thats not the point – there are all sorts of marketing genius and highly paid CEOs running these business and they are making an absolute dogs of the products …rant ends :-)
John Campbell you are correct, the best chocolate is from Lidls or Aldis. Cadburys tasting more like a Hershey Bar nowadays. Hersey Bars incidentally taste like soap
And just don’t even mention the missing, sadly departed favourites from the shrinking Quality Street tins. Or the devastation & disappointment at the “updated” Black Magic chocs, the removal of the walnut from the bottom of the Walnut Whip, the fact that the mighty Mars Bar is now just a slightly bigger version of a Cadburys fudge finger, etc etc. And now the Toblerone too??? We’re really going to need counselling after Xmas to cope with all this trauma.
@Anne Marie Dowdall: they’ve killed yorkies too. used to be the choice of truckers and builders. seems like it is now closer to what the person who owns its namesake dog would be interested in
This is a step too far.Gardai and teachers on strike,a housing crisis and now THIS! I can’t take much more. All my life I have been used to the shape of the Toblerone and now these cruel insensitive ba#$Ards have changed it. I can’t take much more!
@Brendan Mason: I get that , but the confectionary market in Ireland is estimated to be valued at over 650m euro and projected to continue growing to reach 720m euro by 2020 , Irish people like their chocolate treats and the sluggishness in the market during the recession has gone with growth levels averaging 4% per annum every year for the next few years , these are very big numbers and theres plenty of profits to be made – but id suggest they stop ruining the products that people actually LIKE and BUY – the one sure way to see a decline in profits is to make the products LESS ATTRACTIVE to customers – which is what may of these ‘global’ players seem to be intent on doing !
Does anyone know where I can buy the DARK Toblerone as I cannot find anywhere that sells it. Lidl do sell it at random times during the year but not recently. I googled it and it said Tesco sells it but when I asked in three Tesco branches they said no they don’t do it.
they can do what they like with the small bars, its the big boys that count and they aint changing. if anything, the smaller bars are being thrown to the dogs to reignite peoples love affair with the big uns.
The more air there is between the Toblerone peaks the better for the Brits. The health threat of sugar is vastly underestimated anyway http://iitm.be/sugarthreat . Mondolez is just trying to help bring British waistlines in line with post Brexit wallets ;-)
Hold the press wtf never mind Clinton trump . Guards and teachers on strike. Hospitals falling apart around our ears. They changed the shape of flipping Toblerones
