TWO SETS OF traffic lights were blocked at a city centre junctions in Dublin due to election posters from EU election candidates.

One might be familiar – a poster from Fianna Fáil’s Mary Fitzpatrick that the party said would be taken down “as a matter of priority” last Friday is still blocking traffic lights on Inn’s Quay.

When contacted by TheJournal.ie, a spokesperson for her campaign said that they were not aware it was still up.

On the other side of the road, a double-team of Sinn Féin candidate Lynn Boylan and Socialist Party MEP Paul Murphy are blocking traffic crossing the O’Donovan Rossa Bridge to Chancery Place.

Some attempt has been made to adjust the posters, but some road users’ view of the lights would be obscured by the visage of Murphy.

A Sinn Féin spokesperson said it had happened “inadvertently”, and it will be removed as soon as possible, and with Paul Murphy saying that it was possible the poster was “dragged down” but that it would be removed straight away.

Update 9.54am

An eagle-eyed reader of TheJournal.ie spotted Mary Fitzpatrick’s posters being removed from Inn’s Quay this morning.
