Trains between Pearse and Grand Canal delayed after bridge struck

It’s not yet known when normal Dart and train services will resume.

Updated 6.35pm

DART SERVICES ARE delayed by up to 30 minutes after a railway bridge was struck between Pearse Station and Grand Canal Dock.

Services were suspended for a time but have now resumed, according to Irish Rail.

The bridge at Barrow Street in Dublin city centre was struck by a vehicle this afternoon.

The delays were announced just before 6pm, affecting rush hour commuters.

In 2016 there were 92 incidents of vehicles hitting bridges, which is an increase on 2015. So far this year there have been 65 bridge strikes, with the highest increase recorded along the Dart line.

Iarnród Éireann is currently in the process of seeking solutions to reduce the instances of railway bridges being struck by trucks.
