Tributes paid to young man (23) killed in car accident in Wicklow

A young girl who was a passenger in the second car was brought to Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin as a precaution.

TRIBUTES HAVE BEEN paid to a young man who lost his battle for life on Thursday last following a car accident.

Adam Slater (23) from Aughrim Hall, Aughrim, Wicklow lost his life as a result of injuries sustained in an accident on September 24th on the R753 between Ballinaclash and Aughrim in County Wicklow at 8.35 a.m on September 24th.

He sustained serious injuries in the crash and was brought to St Vincent’s University Hospital where he passed away last Thursday September 26th .

In a moving statement his family said: “It is with sadness and heartbreak that we announce the death of our beloved Adam Slater of Aughrim Hall, Aughrim, Co. Wicklow Who passed away on 27th September 2024 in the care of the staff of St. Vincent’s University Hospital Dublin following a tragic accident.

“Surrounded by his friends and family, our beautiful son Adam aged 23 years, first born of our treasured triplets’’.

One neighbour said: ‘’Rest in peace Adam. Such a lovely young man and neighbour. Thinking of Adrienne, Billy, Emily & Hazel at the extremely difficult time’’.

Another wrote: “R.I.P Adam a lovely young man taking way too soon thinking of his family, friends and partner Hazel at this devastating time it was a pleasure to know you sleep tight Adam’.”

Adam is survived by his parents Conor and Adrienne brother Billy, sister Emily and partner of Hazel. No funeral arrangements have been made as yet.

In a statement, Gardaí have appealed to road users who may have dash cam video and were driving in the vicinity at the time of the event to provide the material to the investigating gardaí.

Gardaí have made an appeal for witnesses to the collision to come forward. Gardai say witnesses can contact Wicklow Garda Station at 0404 60140, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111.
