Man (19) killed in two-car collision near Tullamore

The accident happened on the Tullamore to Portarlington Road this afternoon.

GARDAÍ IN TULLAMORE are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic accident on the Tullamore to Portarlington Road (R420) at Geashill this afternoon.

The two car collision occurred at approximately 1.30pm.

A 19-year-old man, the driver of one of the cars, was killed. His passenger, also a male, was removed by ambulance to Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore with injuries, the extent of which are not yet known.

The male driver of the second car was also removed to hospital injured.

The road is currently closed between Geashill and Clonygowan, and local traffic diversions are in place.

Garda Forensic Collision investigators are at the scene and the coroner has been notified.
