TV3 unveils major expansion of its news website - including rolling news

TV3′s news website will now have a rolling live stream of news as well as hourly bulletins presented by its news anchors.

TV3 IS TO significantly expand its online news service, with a rolling live stream of news and with hourly bulletins presented by news anchors on its website, starting from today.

The station said the new rolling news on the website will work with Twitter to provide a continuous flow of breaking news and information from TV3 News and its affiliates, including CNN and Associated Press Television News.

The revamped website will see a rotating team of anchors present the hourly bulletin, led by Colette Fitzpatrick.

The station said the new online coverage will run alongside TV3′s on-air output. News programmes including Tonight with Vincent Browne and The 5:30 News will also be included on the site.

Bob Hughes, the deputy director of news at TV3 said the new site marks a “major step forward in TV3′s online news offering.”

“It will be a dynamic news service that combines modern news-gathering methods with the best of social media to provide the latest news from around the world with hourly video,” he said.

The move is likely to draw comparisons with RTE’s News Now service, which is streamed 24 hours a day and includes rolling news coverage as well as bulletins and news programmes.
