Two arrested after 400 cannabis plants seized in Leitrim

Gardaí have uncovered cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €160,000 in Carrick-on-Shannon.

FOUR HUNDRED CANNABIS plants with an estimated street value of €160,000 have been seized by gardaí in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim.

Two semi-detached houses were searched by gardaí, and were both found to have been adapted as cannabis cultivation sites.

A 25-year-old male and an 18-year-old female were arrested and are detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice ( Drug Trafficking ) Act 1996 at Carrick-On-Shannon Garda Station.

Investigations are continuing.
