Two arrested as baby girl is killed by dog

The dog is believed to be a family pet.

AN ELEVEN-MONTH-OLD BABY has died after she was attacked by a pet dog at a home in England.

Two people, a 24-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of child neglect after the attack on Emily Street in Blackburn last night.

Police were called after an ambulance crew reported that the baby had suffered serious injuries.

It is believed that the child was not at her home when the attack happened at around 11pm last night.

The baby was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital but sadly passed away a short time later.

The dog has been seized from the address by police.

Officers are continuing to carry out enquiries at the scene and investigate the circumstances of what has happened.

Nobody else was injured, police confirmed.

Detective Superintendent Simon Giles of Lancashire Police said:

“This is a tragic incident and specially trained officers are offering support to the wider family and a full investigation is under way.”
