Two arrested over €600,000 drugs seizure in Portlaoise

A quantity of cocaine and cannabis herb was discovered during a search on a van in the town yesterday afternoon.

GARDAÍ IN PORTLAOISE have seized drugs with an estimated street value of €600,000 and arrested two men.

Gardaí stopped and searched a van on Grattan Street in the town at around 3.30pm yesterday and discovered a quantity of cocaine and herbal cannabis.

Two men aged in their 30s were arrested and taken to Portlaoise Garda Station, where they are being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

In a follow-up search at a premises on Factory Lane in Portlaoise, gardaí discovered and seized quantities of cocaine and herbal cannabis.
