Two arrested over suspected terrorism in Newry

Two males, aged 17 and 21, were arrested in connection with “suspicious activity” in Newry.

TWO PEOPLE HAVE been arrested under Northern Ireland’s Terrorism Act  in Newry, Co Down.

A 17-year-old male and a 21-year-old male were arrested following “suspicious activity” in the John Martin Gardens area in the early hours of this morning.

Police also seized a number of items during the operation, including balaclavas and gloves, the BBC reports.

The two remain in custody.
