Two due in court over Co Cavan death

Ciarán O’Connell, 22, died days after being assaulted at a house party in Mullagh in the early hours of St Patrick’s Day.

TWO MEN ARE due in court this evening to face charges in connection with the death of a 22-year-old man in Co Cavan.

Ciarán O’Connell died on Wednesday from injuries he sustained in an attack in the early hours of Saturday morning at a house party in Mullagh.

He was initially taken to Cavan General Hospital for treatment, but was transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin when his condition worsened. He died in hospital early on Wednesday morning.

Two men arrested by gardaí investigating O’Connell’s murder are due to appear before Cavan District Court at 5pm today.
