Two jailed for Clare killing

Two men, an uncle and nephew, both had numerous convictions at the time of Ennis assault.

TWO MEN HAVE BEEN SENTENCED for the death of a Co Clare teacher.

Brian Casey, 26, from Lisseycasy, Co Clare, died on 28 December, 2009, from head injuries sustained in an assault in Ennis.

The Irish Times reported that he had been on life-support at Limerick Regional Hospital following the St Stephen’s night attack.

Harry Dinan, 29, of Waterpark Heights, Ennis, and Kevin Dinan, 23, of Clarehill, Clarecastle pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Casey last month. Today, they were sentenced to five and four years respectively, RTÉ reports.

Harry Dinan was on temporary release at the time of the attack, and has 64 previous convictions.

His nephew Kevin was on bail at the time of the assault on Casey, and has 17 previous convictions.
