Two killed in motorcycle crash in Mayo

A man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene near Lacken.

GARDAÍ IN BALLINA have appealed for witnesses following a fatal road crash on the Killala to Ballycastle Road in Mayo today.

A man and a woman died after a motorcycle and car collided at about 12.20pm. Both of the deceased had been travelling on the motorcycle and were pronounced dead at the scene near Lacken.

No further details about the deceased have been released at this stage.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the car, has been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Forensic teams are now attending the scene and the road is closed to traffic. Local diversions are in place.
