Two men in court over dissident Republican activities

The men were arrested after bomb-making equipment was discovered in a Mayo house over the weekend.

TWO MEN ARE to appear before the Special Criminal Court this evening in connection with dissident Republican activities in Mayo.

The men, who are in their late-20s and 30s, were arrested at Clogher in Claremorris after bomb-making equipment and explosive substances were recovered from a house on Saturday evening.

An Army explosives ordnance disposal team was dispatched to the scene, which was sealed off for some time to facilitate forensic and technical examinations.

The two men were arrested at the scene and taken to Castlebar Garda Station. They are due before the Dublin court at 7pm.
