Two more arrested in Donegal arson investigations

Two men aged 20 and 21 are arrested in connection with arson attacks in the Buncrana area, as charges are prepared against others.

GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING a spate of arson attacks in the Buncrana area of Co Donegal have arrested two more people.

The two men, aged 20 and 21, were arrested in the area this afternoon, and are currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The new arrests bring the total number of people detained in connection with the attacks, which have been ongoing for the last month, to seven.

Five men had been arrested earlier this week; two of those men have been charged, while a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions in relation to other three.

The two men charged have been released on bail, and will appear before Buncrana District Court on Thursday 8 September.
