Woman arrested after 49-year-old man dies in Co Tyrone car accident

The collision happened on the Dromore Road in Omagh.

A 49-YEAR-OLD man has died following a car accident on the Dromore Road in Omagh.

The head-on collision involved a Toyota Yaris and a Saab Vector and was first reported last night at 10pm.

The man, who was driving the Yaris, was taken to hospital but died from his injuries.

The driver of the Saab, a 40-year-old woman, was also taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. She has now been arrested.

“We have spoken to a number of witnesses however we know that other motorists who have not yet come forward were travelling on the road last night and they may have information that could assist in the investigation,” said Inspector Stephen Humphries of the PSNI.

We would also like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed an earlier collision between the Saab and a white Peugeot 207. The number to call is 101.
