HSE encourages parents to bring under-sixes to GPs for cuts and scrapes

They won’t like that…

OVER THE WEEKEND, the Health Minister’s gloating about high numbers of parents and GPs registering for the under-sixes service caused a stir among doctors who are opposed to it.

So they are likely to be up in arms when they see that they HSE encouraged parents to bring their under-sixes to their GPs for cuts and scrapes:

People on Twitter were critical of the health service’s message this morning, with several saying they hope no one will be bringing their kids to the doctor for small scrapes.

Others took it as a slight on modern parenting skills…

The HSE has since deleted the offending tweet.

Varadkar told GPs opposed to the scheme to “cop on” over the weekend and is still facing opposition from members of the National Organisation of General Practitioners (NAGP) who say it will substantially increase their workloads. However three quarters of doctors have now signed up to the service.
