IT’S THE MOST unlikely of friendships.

Brian Hayes and Declan Ganley may not seem on the face of it to have a lot in common – let’s take their position on Europe for starters – but the two seemed to get on famously at an event in Dublin tonight.

The Fine Gael TD and the former head of Libertas were speaking at a public debate organised by broadcaster Marc Coleman’s National Forum group on the fiscal compact referendum.

Meanwhile Eamon O Cuiv and Michael McDowell don’t seem to have gotten on quite so well at the same event:
