UTV Ireland's schedule is starting to take shape...

It includes Midsomer Murders, the Cube and Foyle’s War.

UTV IRELAND IS to begin broadcasting next year and today announced four UK made shows that will be shown on the Dublin-based channel.

Midsomer Murders, Foyle’s War, Undeniable and Love Your Garden as well as future series of The Cube will be broadcast exclusively in Ireland by the channel.

The Cube is currently broadcast on TV3 and follows Coronation Street and Emmerdale as shows that were previously on the Ballymount-based broadcaster that will now be on UTV Ireland.

ITV produced X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent are set to remain on TV3 until at least 2016.

World War II drama Foyle’s War is its ninth season and regularly films in Ireland.

The deal to bring the four shows to UTV Ireland follows an agreement signed with distribution company All3 Media.

Managing director of UTV Television Michael Wilson says that it’s part of strategy to broadcast shows that are already known to Irish audiences.

“By acquiring these high quality drama and entertainment series which already have a strong following in Ireland, we are delivering on our promise of bringing the Irish audience the programmes they want to see on UTV Ireland,” he said.

UTV Ireland previously announced that it will have an hour-long news programme as part of its Irish made content but Wilson says that they are working on adding to this:

Our plans are also well advanced for quality domestic programmes and we look forward to announcing more about our Irish content in the coming weeks and months.
