Vehicle takes out Eircom services in Swords

Broadband and telephone services have been knocked out in the Swords area today following a road traffic accident. Eircom are on site trying to resolve the problem.

A ROAD TRAFFIC accident has completely demolished one of Eircom’s service cabinets in the Swords area.

The incident has left about 250 customers without Broadband or telephone connections, the company confirmed to TheJournal.ie today.

A spokeswoman for Eircom said the cabinet ,which services about 250 residential and business customers, has been badly damaged and engineers are currently assessing the situation.

“Our primary concern is to assess the damage and get people back online as soon as possible,” she said. “We are hopeful this can be done later this afternoon.”

Businesses on the Main Street in Swords, as well as Castle Shopping Centre and Northside Business Park have been affected, said Eircom.

The Gardaí Press Office said they had no information on the road traffic accident yet.
