VHI to increase corporate premiums

The changes to corporate premiums are expected to take place in March.

VHI HAS CONFIRMED that it plans to increase corporate insurance premiums, with the changes taking effect from March.

RTÉ reports that the insurer has not yet revealed what the levels of the increase might be. The announcement comes just days after VHI confirmed that it would be increasing premiums by up to 45 per cent for some customers.

The Health Insurance Authority urged consumers to shop around upon hearing last Thursday’s news, and also advised customers that corporate plans could be taken out by private customers.

Minister of State at the Department of Health John Moloney said that the government was responsible for dealing with the public concern and added that legislation concerning community rating would be ready in two to three months.
