Viable explosive device made safe in Dublin

The device was pushed through the letterbox of a private residence in Clonsilla.

THE DEFENCE FORCES Army Bomb Disposal Team has made safe a viable improvised explosive device (IED) found in Clonsilla, Dublin this afternoon.

The device had been put through the letterbox of a private residence in the Willow Wood area.

The bomb disposal squad arrived at the scene at 3.10pm and examined the device. It was made safe at the scene without the need for a controlled explosion.

The scene was declared safe at 3.45pm and the device was removed to a secure military location for further analysis. The Defence Forces will hand the device over to gardaí for their investigations after it has been more fully examined.
