A CAR HAS been filmed driving the wrong way up a motorway before crashing.

This incident happened in Kilkenny yesterday morning.

The car was recorded driving the wrong way up the M9 at around 10am yesterday morning.

It was caught on film by Don Callanan, who was driving to Dublin as part of his work with his courier company. 

Speaking to TheJournal.ie about the incident he said, “It was very foggy so I was concentrating. Suddenly this car out of nowhere came flying against me.

You hear about these things, but it is very scary when something like that happens to you.

The gardaí confirmed that a vehicle had been driving the wrong way up the motorway and was involved in a two-car collision on the M9 at an area called Shankill, Paulstown in Kilkenny.

The incident is being dealt with by local gardaí and no one was injured in the crash.
