Video: Investigation into dramatic Afghan helicopter crash

The ISAF aircraft struck the snow-covered ground, narrowly missing people on the ground.

AN INVESTIGATION has been launched into the circumstances surrounding a US military helicopter crash in Afghanistan after footage of the incident was released.

In the dramatic video, the pilot flies low over the ground before turning and making a return run over the same area.

However, the helicopter runs into the snow-covered ground close to the camera and other people standing by before rising briefly and crashing down again just past them:

It is understood the incident occurred in eastern Afghanistan on 6 February. The ISAF (the NATO operation in Afghanistan) has already indicated that there were no fatalities and that the crew was transported safely to a nearby base.

It also says in a statement that the early indications are that there was no enemy activity in the area at the time of the incident and the causes of the crash are being investigated.
