Starry, starry night: Gorgeous video shows strikingly clear night skies over Kerry

We want to go outside now.

ONE OF THE nice things about living in this country is the occasionally amazing night skies we get.

Artist Madeleine Weber captured one particularly stunning sky over Ballinskelligs in Kerry recently. Enjoy.

Beautiful. Thank you Madelene Weber for sending this in and The Journal for posting it.
The first time I realised you could see the Milky Way from Ireland was when we went to the Ring in Clonakilty for a midterm break. It was jaw-droppingly beautiful.

Clonakilty is stunning yes but have you considered cape clear or sherkin island? Was in cape last summer and cos there are no street lights to ruin the starlight it is simply beautiful! I remember just sitting in the middle of the road at 2 am gazing up at the beautiful starlit sky…. All for free to!

The first time I saw the milky way in all its glory, is when we hiked from Glencree to Knocavana in Wicklow, I was about 10, magical. It was amazing , clouds of stars. This truely is a beautiful country that offers that most unexpected of scenes.

When you have lived in an area that has massive light pollution, like a town, the first time you actually get to see the Milky Way for yourself is truly jawdropping.. Awesome in the true sense of the word.

What you see rising in the sky first is Jupiter. Through a telescope it looks amazing. You can see all Jupiter’s features. What’s even more impressive through a telescope is Saturn
