The sixth-generation VW Polo is an entirely new car from the wheels up

The revamped Polo arrives to Ireland in December.

THE SIXTH-GENERATION of the Volkswagen Polo arrives in Ireland in December with pricing starting at €16,795 for the 65hp 1.0-litre Trendline model.

The new Polo has grown in size and is now 81mm longer and has a 92mm longer wheelbase than the model it replaces. The boot has grown too and can now hold 351 litres (71 litres larger than before).

This new Polo is an entirely new car from the ground-up and is now only available as a five-door model, with a choice of 14 colours and three dashpad colours.

There are some new features too including an optional Active Info Display, replacing the analogue speedometer and driver cluster with a 10.25-inch high resolution digital display.

In Ireland, the new Polo is offered in Trendline and Comfortline specification, and a range topping GTI version will join the range later on.

The Trendline model comes as standard with Bluetooth connectivity, a 6.5-inch radio system with four speakers, a multi-function display and forward collision warning front-assist technology.

In addition to the Trendline specification, Comfortline models get 15-inch alloys, a multifunction steering wheel, cruise control, aircon and an 8-inch radio system with six speakers.

Volkswagen Ireland is offering Technology Pack upgrades on both Trendline and Comfortline Polos as well as a ‘scrappage’ deal. Customers who trade in a Euro 1-4 emissions standard diesel vehicle can avail of a €1,750 EcoGrant to be used against the purchase of a new Polo.

Prices for the new Polo start at €16,795 for the entry level 1.0 litre petrol model with Trendline trim, and go all the way up to €32,395 for the Polo GTI with 200hp 2.0-litre TSI petrol and six-speed DSG.
