Stuntman dies after fall on set of TV show The Walking Dead

Tributes were paid by the acting community after the death of John Bernecker.

A STUNTMAN has died after suffering a fall during the filming of popular US TV show The Walking Dead.

AMC Networks said that production of the show was shut down after the incident involving stutman John Bernecker on Wednesday.

Bernecker also appeared in films such as Logan, the most recent Fantastic Four film and the Hunger Games. He was also due to appear in upcoming films Black Panther and Rampage, starring Dwayne Johnson.

A local Atlanta coroner said that he died due to blunt force trauma suffered in the fall, Variety reports.

In a statement before Bernecker’s death, AMC said yesterday: “We are saddened to report that John Bernecker, a talented stuntman for The Walking Dead and numerous other television shows and films, suffered serious injuries from a tragic accident on set.

He was immediately transported to an Atlanta hospital and we have temporarily shut down production.

The Walking Dead actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan said he felt “deep sorrow” and said that Bernecker will be “forever missed”.

Twilight actor Kellen Lutz also paid tribute, calling Bernecker the “most talented stuntman” he had been “blessed to work with”.

The show is currently filming for its eighth season.
