Watch: Israeli president calls for peace - in his new music video

Veteran politician Shimon Peres is trying a new approach to the peace process with this electro dance tune.

POLITICIANS HAVE TRIED a lot of different ways to broker peace in the Middle East. But a dance music video is surely a new one.

Israeli president Shimon Peres, a stalwart of the political scene long regarded as a dovish influence, has released an electro-influenced song calling for a peaceful settlement.

Called ‘Be My Friend For Peace’, the video features Peres rolling rapper-style in a limousine; meeting prominent world leaders; and shaking hands with a dancing robot.

As well as urging people to “share peace”, he also urges viewers to become his friend on Facebook.

“We used to be the people of the Book,” he says. “Now we are the people of the Facebook. Much better.”
