Gardaí investigating after water meter protester allegedly "hit by digger"

Irish Water say they are “aware of the incident” and will help gardaí.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING an incident that allegedly saw a water meter protester hit by a work vehicle.

The man was reportedly hit by a digger at around 8.30am this morning during a protest in the Tanners Gate area of Carrick-on-Suir in Tipperary.

A source says that the man is currently awaiting x-ray results in hospital.

Gardaí have confirmed that they are investigating the incident. Gardaí in Carrick-on-Suir were presented with footage of the incident and are reviewing it.

An Irish Water spokesperson this evening told TheJournal.ie that the company had been notified of the incident.

“We are aware of the incident and that it is being investigated by gardaí. We will help them with their investigation.”
