Psychiatric patient remanded over Waterford hospital stab attack

Marie O’ Brien, who was also a patient at the hospital, died in the attack on Friday night.

A 36-YEAR-OLD man has been remanded in custody after appearing before Waterford District Court last evening in connection with Friday night’s fatal stab attack at St Otteran’s Psychiatric Hospital in Waterford.

Paul Cuddihy, who has an address at St Otteran’s hospital, John’s Hill, Waterford, appeared before Waterford District Court charged with the murder of Marie O’ Brien.

Marie O’ Brien, who was also a resident of St Otteran’s, was from Waterford City and was aged in her 50s.

Two others were also injured in the violent incident, which happened on Friday evening at around 7pm.
