Appeal for two young women who may have witnessed fatal stabbing to come forward

A 28-year-old man was stabbed to death on New Street in the early hours of Saturday morning.

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for two young women who may have witnessed a stabbing in Waterford yesterday morning to come forward.

A 28-year-old man was stabbed to death on New Street in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Gardaí were alerted to the incident at around 3.20am by a member of the public.

The man was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A 35-year-old man was arrested nearby and is currently being held at Waterford Garda Station.

Gardaí want to speak to two young women who were in John’s Lane at the Park Lane Apartments between 3am and 4am and who may have witnessed the incident.

Anybody with information is being asked to contact the incident room in Waterford Garda Station on 051- 305300, the garda confidential telephone line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
