Wax Museum set to close its doors in less than two weeks

Located just off Dame Street in Dublin, the National Wax museum is set to move to a bigger location in 2017.

THE NATIONAL WAX Museum Plus in Dublin is set to close for the last time on Sunday 4 December, and relocate to a new city centre location.

A spokesperson for the Wax Museum told TheJournal.ie that they were relocating because they “needed change” and would do so at an as yet unspecified location in Dublin city.

The spokesperson also said that they ”are taking this opportunity to make some new additions and the plan is to open our new location sometime next spring.”

As well as featuring lifelike waxworks of famous people from the world of film, music, sport, and more, the museum also highlights figures from Irish history.

In February, the Irish Independent reported that the Irish Stock Exchange (ISE) wanted the operators of the National Wax Museum to vacate its premises to facilitate a €10 million ISE redevelopment project, and had brought the matter to commercial court.

The ISE was said to have bought the building in June 2015 for €2.7 million and wanted the National Wax Museum to be vacated to aid in the redevelopment of its adjacent Anglesea Street headquarters.
